Energy-efficient heating strategies of diesel oxidation catalyst for low emissions vehicles

چکیده

Electrically heated catalyst (EHC) is integrated with the exhaust aftertreatment system to reduce cold-start emissions. Implementation of this proposed emission control technology will also provide addition CO 2 and fuel consumption benefits. Developing an energy-efficient heating strategy has shown a significant reduction in time required for catalysts light-off from cold-start. In study, it was found first that novel pulsating pulse width 30 s compared typical improved THC emissions conversion efficiency up 34% 31%, respectively. contrast, further increase leads lower emissions' performance due extending off period consequently leading catalyst's light-out. Furthermore, combined electrical post-injection can benefit EHC's quick higher post-injection, which showed improvement DOC's performance. This approach result efficiencies be critical meet legislations. An outlet temperature beneficial downstream component heating, e.g. DPF regeneration. • At engine cold-start, hydrocarbon (HC) carbon monoxide (CO) are high. Energy-efficient reduces light-off. Electrical heater enhances oxidation over diesel catalyst. Novel by 31%. thermal management potential hybrid vehicles.

Efficient Vehicles Versus Efficient Transportation Comparing Transportation Energy Conservation Strategies

This paper compares four transportation energy conservation strategies using a comprehensive evaluation framework that takes into account how each strategy affects annual vehicle travel, and therefore mileage-related impacts such as traffic congestion, road and parking facility costs, and crashes. These mileage-related impacts tend to be large in magnitude compared with energy conservation bene...

Emissions of Nitrogen Dioxide from Modern Diesel Vehicles

The traditional on-road emissions remote sensing technique has been enhanced with the ability to monitor not only CO, CO2, HC and NO, but also SO2, NH3 and NO2. Modern diesel powered vehicles, particularly in Japan and Europe are equipped with diesel particle filters (DPFs). These traps are frequently designed to be self regenerating by means of a prior catalytic oxidation of the exhaust NO to ...

Model-based Control Design of a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst

This paper proposes a control strategy for a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) which is grounded on a one-dimensional distributed parameter model. This first principles model for the propagation of the temperature variations accounts for spatially distributed heat generation (due to oxidation of reductants). As is discussed, heat generation can be regarded as equivalent inlet temperature variatio...
